Resumo : |
Small airports provide access to remote regions, and ensuring air transport service continuity in small airports benefits regional development. However, there is a gap in the research for the choice factors of airports composing the route network of airlines operating in routes with thin demand and using aircraft with low seat capacity. This study focuses on the Brazilian context and collects data on current airport infrastructure, airport factors, and active commercial air transport routes, primarily using ANAC's database. Using a Probit model, this research expects to find which airport factors are relevant to an airline's decision to start serving small airports. The study's objective is to contribute to decisions in investment prioritization to attract commercial air service in thin-demand routes. The results should enable a better understanding of the necessities of thin demand routes and provide valuable data for managers, governments, and policymakers to foster this market niche and improve national air connectivity. |
