Resumo : Currently, manufacturers of internal combustion engines are looking for alternatives for their engine designs in order to reduce pollutant emissions and fuel consumption. As a result, manufacturers are increasingly investing in technology development research to meet environmental legislation and society's demands. Compression ignition engines - The diesel cycle faces the challenge of balancing the reduction of nitrogen oxide and soot emissions, which requires heavy investment in new concepts to meet these parameters. The present work aims to investigate the application of ducted fuel injection (DFI). This concept consists of directing the fuel spray through a small cylindrical duct immediately after leaving the injector, thus improving the air/fuel premixing phase in the auto-ignition zone of the fuel compared to the conventional model, the so-called free spray, where the spray is delivered directly into the combustion chamber. This concept offers significant potential for soot reduction in diesel engines, which is very interesting to meet the current emission standards and also to reduce the cost of aftertreatment systems. In this work the development of the device was carried out with an idea where a bushing was developed to be used to start an injector, the device was made in protection 310 for thermal protection, it was installed with a thread so that the channels can be aligned with the injection port of the injector, it is not necessary to machine the head. The installation the first tests were carried out, tests were carried out of which the engine was made and the description distance, tests were carried out of which the engine was described, the distance of which tests were carried out of which the engine allows the description make this adjustment. With the analysis of the best channel already carried out, a second battery of tests was carried out in which the motor load had to be varied in order to analyze the efficiency of the channel at high loads. A third was carried out with the conventional combination of untested batteries, as this series was carried out in the case of the installation of an uninstalled engine. And finally, the last tests were brought forward and the timing of fuel injection was delayed in order to analyze the timing of lower soot formation. For the first tests, they were analyzed using Fourier spectroscopy (FTIR), and for the others, the soot was analysed using the laser incandescent lamp (LII).
