Resumo : This research aimed to use the Systems Theory based Process Analysis to evaluate hazards in aircraft operations at airport groupings and to propose general recommendations, using the Brazilian airports case study. It was possible to verify how the use of STPA can be applied for airport hazard analysis, and contribute with recommendations for improvements in safety concerns for the cases studied. It is worth mentioning that only few studies have been found in the literature using this approach in the proposed context, indicating a pioneering contribution to the sector internationally. The development of the work was organized in 3 stages. The first stage dealt with obtaining the necessary data for the STPA application through an analysis of airport groupings based on operational context attributes. Using the identified hazards among groups at the second stage, the STPA analysis was applied to one of the groups. Finally, at the third stage, the results of this analysis were discussed as to applicability, and safety recommendations were developed for airport groups. As expected, it was possible to identify the main hazards currently present in Brazilian airport operations. In addition, the results indicated by this study show that it is possible to extend the analysis to other hazards identified at the first stage and generate recommendations for implementation at Brazilian airports.
