Process integration has been known to be the bottleneck on effective product design and production projects. Several new software tools have been developed to fill this industrial gap, and each one possesses different features and abilities. The problem analyzed here is to derive a method that enables each company to find the specific commercial tool that is the most adequate to its needs. To achieve this goal, we first propose and extension of the classical consumer theory, and later, a utility function that is based on both software's properties and individual company's needs. The costs of each tool are also considered in the analysis. There are also two illustrative case studies that consider three real integration tools, for different companies, ranking them and providing the company with the software that best suits for her.
