Resumo : In aerospace industry, products are usually sophisticated according to their geometry and material choice in order to fulfill the high demands of their later application. Therefore turbomachinery components are made increasingly of difficult-to-cut materials as titanium and nickel-based alloys. The cutting treatment for these aeronautical materials can take place via a simultaneous five-axis-high-speed-milling's treatment. This work presents some theory and results involving high-speed-machining and simultaneous five-axis milling of titanium and nickel-based alloys. The basics of five-axis milling are described as well some results based on various investigations at the Fraunhofer IPT (Aachen - Germany). This includes a pratical approache to determine the cutting forces and temperatures of titanium and nickel-based alloys in a high-speed and five-axis-milling process.
